Dating back to the 11th century, this historic Royal Tutbury Castle, has spectacular views over the Dove valley.

Tutbury Castle was originally built in the 1070’s for one of William the Conqueror’s Barons, it has known, and been involved in some of the most dramatic events in almost 1000 years of English history. A bloody place of siege and battle as well as a mighty prison, holding Mary, Queen of Scots on three occasions.

As well as being worth a visit to see the ruins themselves, Tutbury Castle is also host to numerous interesting historical re-enactment events throughout the year as well as occasional ghost hunts. The castle is located just 3 miles from the Hilton House Hotel and can be reached in less than 10 minutes by car.
